Michael goes shopping

Mr Richards is a grocer. He is a fat old man. He is always annoyed. He works in the office behind the shop. Mr Richards has a shop assistant, named Egbert.

Egbert is a young man. He is a good employee. He keeps the shop clean and helps the customers.

One day, a customer came into the shop. His name was Michael. He was tall and thin. He liked to make jokes. He wanted to play a joke on Egbert. Egbert was in the shop. He was cleaning.

Michael looked at Egbert and said, “I want a small table, please.”

Egbert said, “We don’t sell tables in this shop. We sell food.”

Michael smiled and answered, “A small, brown table.” He took a photo out of his bag and showed it to Egbert. It was a picture of a small, brown table.

Egbert looked over his shoulder. He didn’t want Mr Richards to hear. He shouted at Michael, “We do not have tables in this shop! Food! Not tables!”

Michael smiled and said, “That’s good. Thank you.” Then he sat down on a chair and waited.

Egbert was embarrassed. He went into the office and spoke to Mr Richards. They were shouting. Michael smiled. Then, Egbert and Mr Richards came out again.

Mr Richards was angry. He looked at the man and said, “What do you want?”

The man smiled and answered, “I want a loaf of brown bread, please. Haven’t you got any bread in your shop?”

Mr Richards said, “Yes, we have.” He looked at Egbert angrily. Then he got a loaf of brown bread from a big box and gave it to Michael. Egbert blushed. He knew it was a bad joke on him. Michael paid for his bread and left. He laughed when he closed the door behind him.

The story

One day, Michael went to the grocer’s because he wanted to play a joke on
Egbert. Egbert was a shop assistant and he was just cleaning the shop. Michael
showed Egbert a photo of a small brown table and asked for one, but Egbert told
him they didn’t sell tables. However, Michael stayed so Egbert went to the
manager’s office. The manager came out angrily and asked Michael what he
wanted, but this time Michael said he wanted a loaf of bread. Mr Richards was
furious with Egbert but gave Michael a loaf of bread from a box. Michael paid
and left the shop laughing, but Egbert knew it was a bad joke on him.

Michael’s story

One day, I went to the grocer’s because I wanted to play a joke on the shop
assistant. The shop assistant was just cleaning the shop. I showed him a photo of
a small brown table and asked for one, but he told me they didn’t sell tables.
However, I stayed so the guy went to the manager’s office. The manager came
out angrily and asked me what I wanted, but this time I said I wanted a loaf of
bread. The manager was furious with the assistant but gave me a loaf of bread
from a box anyway. I paid and left the shop laughing. I think the shop assistant
knew it was a bad joke on him.

Egbert’s story

didn’t sell tables. However, this guy stayed so I went to Mr Richard’s office. Mr
Richard came out angrily and asked the man what he wanted, but this time he
said he wanted a loaf of bread. Mr Richards was furious with me but gave the
man a loaf of bread from a box. The guy paid and left the shop laughing, but I
