Painting the house
Jim is a decorator. He is good at his job. He’s decorating Sam’s house. Sam is staying at his sister’s house. Sam is going to the shop to buy all the paint. He likes bright colours. He is buying lilac for the bedroom, green for the living room, yellow for the kitchen, and cream for the outside of the house. Sam is arriving with all the paint.
“Hello, Jim. Here is the paint: yellow for the kitchen, green for the living room, lilac for the bedroom, and cream for the outside. You can phone me when you’re ready, and I can pay you then.”
He’s giving Jim the keys and driving away. After two weeks he’s going back to see Jim. When he arrives at his house, he is shocked! His house is lilac on the outside!
“Do you like it?” Jim says. “It is a bit bright for me, but I know you like bright colours. People come here and take photos, and they ask me why I am painting my house this colour. I always tell them it is not my house.”
Sam is running into the house and sees that the living room is cream, the bedroom is yellow and the kitchen is green.
“Actually Jim, I quite like it!” says Sam.
