Audio 01 The story
Laundry
Mum must do the laundry today. She is calling to her family: “Peter, bring your jeans from your room. Laura, I want to wash your leotard and sweatshirt so bring them now. Sam, pick up your sports kit and bring it to me. Jessica, I can wash your uniform. Bring it all now, please. I have five minutes before I phone grandad; I must quickly put a wash on.”
Everybody is running about the house, picking up dirty clothes from their bedroom floors and grabbing clothes from hampers. Now mum is filling the machine with the laundry and then she is adding washing liquid and turning the machine on. She is making a coffee and going into the living room to call grandad.
Later on, Peter is calling out: “Mum! Where’s my oyster card?” Laura is shouting:”Where’s my watch, mummy?” Sam is yelling: “Who’s got my iPod?” Jessica is wailing: “I need my earrings, mum!”
The machine stops. Mum is unloading the washing from the machine. “Uh-oh,” she cries, “I think I‘ve washed more than just your clothes!”
