Another common sound that everyone knows is this one. Telephones ring. When you dial someone’s number and call them, their telephone, or mobile phone, will ring.

The Story: Hospital, Are You Ready? (with explanation)

Sally is pacing up and down the hallways of the hospital where she works as a surgeon.

Sally is pacing. She is walking quickly up and down the hallways of the hospital where she works as a surgeon.

She has just heard the huge blast of an explosion near the hospital, and everybody is getting ready for the casualties that are going to soon be flooding through the front doors.

After hearing the blast of an explosion close to the hospital, they are getting ready for lots of casualties. Casualties are incidents where people are hurt and require help. The casualties are going to soon be flooding through the front doors. A flood is a huge amount of water. In the same way, there will be a huge amount of hurt people that will pour through the front door.

The nurses prepare beds, and they make sure they have enough blood bags to hand. The doctors who are on their lunch breaks quickly gobble down their food, and the ones who are napping between surgeries wake up.

The nurses prepare by making sure they have beds ready to be used and enough blood bags to hand. The doctors who are on their lunch breaks quickly eat their food, they gobble it down. The ones who are taking short sleeps or, naps, between surgeries wake up. Surgery is something doctors perform on people who need to be healed. The patient will be put under anesthetics and operated on.

Even the sound of flushing toilets can be heard as everybody assembles by the front doors ready for the chaos.

The sound of toilets can be heard as everyone assembles, gathers, by the front doors ready for the chaos of lots of people flooding through the doors.

There is silence as they wait for the inevitable.

There is silence as they wait for the inevitable. The inevitable  is something that is sure to happen.

Sally is at the front of the crowd with beads of sweat falling from her head. She nervously fiddles with the stethoscope around her neck.

Where is Sally stood? At the front of the crowd. She is nervous, she has beads of sweat falling from her head. She nervously fiddles with the stethoscope around her neck. She nervously plays around with it in her hand.

Suddenly, the doors burst open and everyone gets ready to rush to the peoples’ aid, but a lone man hobbles in, who has scraped his knee.

The doors open and everyone gets ready to rush to the flood of peoples’ aid, the peoples’ help. Is there a flood of people? No. There is a lone man. One man. He hobbles in and has scraped in. Hobbling is an unsteady way of walking as a result of injury.

The doctors and nurses are shocked that there isn’t a huge crowd of injured people from the explosion.

Where are all the injured people? The hospital workers are all shocked that there aren’t lots of injured people.

Sally shows the man to a nurse who can stitch up his knee and they return their focus to the door. A telephone starts ringing behind the nurses station, and one of the nurses answers it.

Sally takes the man to a nurse who can stitch up his scraped knee. They look back to the door ready again. A telephone starts ringing behind the nurses station.

It is someone who has phoned the hospital to let them know that there is an action movie being filmed across the road so no to panic if they hear any explosions.

What is going on?  An action movie is being filmed near the hospital and someone is phoning telling them not to panic if they hear the blast of any explosions.
