Steven Graning grew up in the Chicago suburbs and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. He began his professional career as an accountant in a cubicle high up in a Chicago skyscraper. He first taught English after moving to Hungary in 1994. He then worked as an editor, translator, and project manager before joining a tourism start-up where he directed sales and marketing until 2016.
As a language instructor, Steve focuses on the way English is used in the real world. He strives to activate his students’ passive vocabulary, correcting their mistakes and helping them create good habits through repetition. Students praise his active, engaging lessons that incorporate current events and emerging jargon.
