At the fair
The fair is in town, and Sophie and Millie want to go. They’re asking Sophie’s Dad to take them. The day of the fair is bright and sunny, and the girls are very excited.
Sophie: “Daddy, Daddy! Please can we go on the roller coaster? It looks great! Look how fast it is!”
Sophie’s Dad: “Ok, girls. Let’s get in the queue.”
They’re waiting for thirty minutes to go on the roller coaster. The roller coaster is fun. The girls are rosy-cheeked and giggling; Sophie’s Dad looks rather pale.
Millie: “Oh, the dodgems! I really want to go on them. Oh, please!”
Sophie’s Dad: “Right you are, Millie. Join the queue, then.”
They’re all waiting in the queue for another thirty minutes. The dodgems are noisy. The girls and Sophie’s Dad are going on several rides.
Sophie’s Dad, out of breath: “Girls, now it’s my turn. I’m choosing now.”
Both girls are excited. They’re guessing at the ghost train, or the hall of mirrors.
Sophie’s Dad: “No, not the ghost train and not the hall of mirrors. I choose to sit down on that bench over there, and have a cup of tea!”
