The library
Simon is going to the library. He enjoys reading and often borrows books. Today he forgets some old books at home, but he wants to borrow some more anyway. He likes fiction very much.
He is browsing the bookshelves and reading the blurbs on the back of the books. Finally, he chooses some interesting books.
He is going to the librarian’s desk. He is handing the pile of books to her. The librarian is taking his library card and she is scanning it into the computer. She is raising her eyebrows. “That’s £22.50, please.”
Simon is shocked. “Why are you saying that? This is not a bookshop, you know. This is a library.” The librarian is smiling. “Oh I know that, sir. The £22.50 is not for these books, but it is a fine for all the books you have at home still!”
