Late for work
Peter Thompson is just waking up. He must go to work. He must be in the office at 8.30 a.m. He’s looking at his alarm clock. His alarm clock is not working! It’s 8:20 and he is late! There is no time for breakfast. Quickly, he is taking a shower, getting dressed and leaving his house.
Outside, it is raining heavily. Oh no! He hasn’t got an umbrella! Peter is running for the bus, but he just misses it. He’s going into a corner shop to buy a newspaper. Now he’s going back to the bus stop. While he is waiting for the next bus, a car splashes him all over with water.
“What a terrible Monday morning!” he thinks.
When he finally arrives at the office, all the doors are locked. Nobody is around. He’s looking at the newspaper in his hand. It says Sunday 1st September! His office is closed today.
“What a great day!” he says. “I can go home and have a long, hot bath and bacon and eggs for my breakfast!”
