Robert Takes a Test
Robert is a college student. He studies very hard. But, he writes slowly and gets nervous during tests.
One day, Robert took a very difficult writing exam in Mr Shaw’s class. It was an important exam, and he was nervous. The students had one hour to finish the exam. All the students were writing for the whole hour.
At the end of the test, Mr Shaw asked all the students to put their pencils down and hand in their tests. All the students stopped writing except Robert. They stood up from their desks and put their tests in a pile on a table at the front of the room. Robert stayed at his desk, writing as quickly as he could.
“Young man,” Mr Shaw said in an angry voice. “You must stop immediately!”
Robert ignored the teacher and continued writing.
“If you do not stop immediately, I will fail you on this exam!” Mr Shaw said.
Robert did not stop writing. He pretended to not hear the teacher talking to him. He finished the test ten minutes later.
Robert brought his test to Mr Shaw at the front of the room. The teacher said,
“You did not finish in time. You will get no points for the test.”
Robert asked, “Do you know who I am?”
Mr Shaw said, “No. And I do not care.”
Robert asked again, “Are you sure you don’t know who I am?”
Mr Shaw was very angry. He said, “No.”
Robert smiled at the teacher.
“You should not be so happy, young man!” Mr Shaw said.
Robert walked to the table with the pile of tests. He placed his test in the middle of the pile and put them back on the table. “It is good that you do not know my name,” Robert said, and walked out of the room.
