The Cyclist
Twenty-five-year-old Chester decided one day that since he had a week off from work, he would go and visit his sister, Lorna. She lived three hours from Chester and didn’t get to see him much.
They both were having a fantastic time until Chester fell ill just two days into the visit. He didn’t want to leave, and Lorna wanted to take care of him, so they got into her car, and she drove him down to the hospital.
Their drive was soon interrupted as they, unfortunately, witnessed a cyclist get run over by the car in front of them. Immediately, Chester jumped out of the car and ran to the cyclist’s aid.
“I’m so sorry!” sobbed the lady who ran the cyclist over.
“It’s ok, I don’t think I’m hurt, so I’ll be fine,” said the cyclist, Rachel, as she patted herself down.
She had a few grazes on her hands but no evidence of major damage. Still, Chester and Lorna thought it would be wise for her to join them on their journey to the hospital.
“I’ll be ok, I promise,” Rachel insisted.
Chester interjected. “Yes, but when the shock wears off, you might feel some delayed pain, so it’s best that the doctors examine you now.”
Rachel said nothing as she knew he was right, so she agreed with a nod of her head.
“Come on, we will take you and put your bike in the back of the car,” Lorna said as she picked up the bike.
The lady, who ran her over, thanked Chester and Lorna, and – as she walked off back to her own car – gave Rachel a slip of paper with her number on it in case she needed to get hold of her.
Chester flattened the back seats of Lorna’s car as they tried different positions to get the bike to fit into the car. After several attempts, they finally made it fit and shut the boot. They signalled for Rachel to come over when Chester’s face lit up.
“Hang on,” he quietly whispered to Lorna. “Now that we’ve flattened the seats, where’s Rachel going to sit?”

Chester’s story
One day I decided to visit my sister, Lorna, who lived 3 hours from me as I hadn’t seen her for a while. We were enjoying ourselves until I got ill. However, I didn’t want to go home, so we got into the car to get to the hospital.
On our way to the hospital, we witnessed an accident: a car ran over a cyclist. I jumped out of the car to help the cyclist, who had a few grazes on her hands but no major injuries. Still, we all agreed to take her to the hospital as she might feel some delayed pain.
After I had flattened the back seat for the bike to fit into the car, I realised my mistake. Now that we had flattened the seats, there was no space for Rachel.
Rachel’s story
One day I decided to go to work by bike. I was riding my bicycle listening to my favourite music when a car from behind hit me. I fell to the road and hit my hand, but except for a few grazes on my hand, I didn’t have any major injuries.
While the lady who hit me was sobbing, a young man and a young woman jumped out their car and ran to my aid. I told them I was okay, but they insisted that I should go to the hospital with them as I might have some delayed pain.
While they were flattening the back seat for my bike, I was waiting next to the car. Soon I saw the young man whispering to the young woman. As it turned out there was no space for me in the car next to my bike.
