The Alien Landing

Kenneth lives alone in a huge house with an enormous garden. He is retired, so he spends the majority of the days in the week alternating between cleaning the house and taking care of his garden. He has built up a routine which he never strays from. When in the garden, he first waters the flowers, then takes the weeds out of the patio area, trims any wild branches on the trees and shrubs, and finally, he mows the lawn. He even mows the lawn in the same way every time. He starts at the top edge of the grass and then mows in concentric circles until he finishes up in the centre of the lawn. One day, however, things did not follow his routine.

Kenneth had finished his gardening and just needed to mow the lawn. He got halfway through the job when the lawnmower ran out of petrol. He got in his car and drove to the petrol station and returned half an hour later with a can of petrol. When he returned, however, his driveway was riddled with policemen, news reporters, firemen and scientists.

“What on earth is going on?” Kenneth cried out to one of the officers. “This is my house!”

“Sorry sir, you cannot go through. A helicopter flew over your house about fifteen minutes ago, and the pilot saw a huge crop circle in your garden. It is believed there could have been an alien landing.”

“Don’t be ridiculous! I was mowing my lawn! The petrol ran out!”

The policeman didn’t believe him and didn’t budge. “You cannot enter the house, sir.”

Kenneth was furious that he had no access to his own house, so he jumped over the garden wall. There were scientists trampling all over his flowers, his bushes and lawn, collecting samples to test for irregular substances. Kenneth topped up the petrol in the mower and drove straight at the scientists, who quickly jumped out of the way, and he continued to mow the lawn.

Everyone soon understood how the circles had got there and slowly walked away shaking their heads in bitter disappointment.

He starts with watering the flowers, then continues with weeding the patio area, then goes on with trimming wild branches and finally finishes with mowing the lawn.

Kenneth has a strange mowing habit, which is: he mows the lawn in concentric circles.

One day he got halfway through mowing the lawn when his lawn mower ran out of petrol, so he drove to the petrol station in order to get some petrol for the mower. When he returned, he found that his driveway was riddled with policemen, news reporters, firemen and scientists.

When he wanted to go through to his house, he was stopped by a policeman who said there might have been an alien landing in his garden.  This made Kenneth furious, and he jumped over the wall, went to his lawn mower, topped up the petrol in the tank and drove straight at the scientists, who jumped out of the way. As soon as the policemen, news reporters, firemen and scientists had realised the situation, they left the scene in bitter disappointment.
