The DVD Store

Little Johnny loves Superman. He has every comic and movie ever made about him. He has Superman bed sheets, Superman toys, Superman posters, Superman costumes and…well…Superman EVERYTHING. He is obsessed.

After waiting for a whole year, today was the day when Johnny could buy the newest Superman movie on DVD.

After school, he hurried straight to the DVD store and eagerly searched for the film. He was searching high and low but couldn’t find it on the shelves. He eventually went over to the counter and asked the shopkeeper, “I thought Superman was coming out on DVD today. Do you not have it?”

“I’m afraid you must have your dates wrong. The new Superman won’t be out for another week.”

Johnny’s heart sank. He simply couldn’t believe it. How did he get it so wrong when he was such a big fan?

He glumly turned around and walked out of the store. He glazed back through the shop window at the shelves which housed no Superman films. He began to cry. He just couldn’t help it. He had been so excited for this day which caused him so much disappointment. The more he thought about it, the more he cried.

A policeman nearby wandered across to Johnny when he saw him crying.

“What’s the matter? What’s happened?” He looked very concerned.

Johnny tried to explain but couldn’t as he was sobbing so deeply.

“Has someone hurt you?” the policeman inquired.

Johnny pointed at the window and finally formed the sentence, “ Superman … hasn’t come out yet.”

In a heartbeat, without even thinking, the policeman whipped out his gun and pointed it at the door of the shop.

“Oi, Superman, come out with your hands on your head. You’re under arrest.”
