The Missionaries
Kim and Ji are Korean missionaries with hearts of gold. They are always so eager to help anyone around them, and this passion they have radiates among all those who engage with them. They inspire others to be better.
They took a break for a year to visit churches in England to tell people about their work in Asia. Wherever they went, every church was completely packed out with people, desperate to hear what their work was like. They had even written a book about their experiences. They sold hundreds of copies whilst touring the different churches. In one certain church that they came across, they met a rather interesting man.
Wallace was an old gentleman who had spent most of his life alone, with the exception of the presence of his cat, Mrs. Purrkins. He was rather eccentric, but he too had a heart of gold. When Kim and Ji visited his church, he spoke to them afterwards about how impressed he was by their jobs.
“Oh, aren’t you brave!” he wheezed at the missionaries.
“That’s very kind of you …” Kim hung onto the vowel of her last word until she got a name to match the face in front of her, which at this point was rather red and sweaty.
“Oh, Wallace, very glad to meet you!”
The couple smiled and turned to walk away when Wallace exclaimed, “I served in the Vietnam War, you know!”
Not knowing quite how to reply, Ji let out a half enthusiastic “Ah…”
“Yes, so I know all about Asia. It’s a tad bigger than England, wouldn’t you say?”
“Yes, very much so,” Ji replied.
They spoke to him for a while, and as they do with everyone else, they inspired him.
A week later, Wallace decided that he would visit the Korean missionaries. All he knew was that they worked with St. Saviour’s, Christ Redeemer Church of Asia. Unbeknownst to him as he stepped off the plane, he never would find them. After all, how could he find them in Korea after he had bought himself a ticket to China?
“Ah, Beijing,” he said as he naively started his impossible mission.

Audio 05-6 Story versions
The story (version A)
Kim and Ji, who are Korean missionaries with hearts of gold, are always eager to help anyone around them and inspire others to be better.
They took a break for a year in order to visit churches in England and talk about their work in Asia. Wherever they went, every church was completely packed with people who were desperate to hear about their mission. The interest in Kim and Ji’s work was overwhelming thanks to the fact that Kim and Ji had written a best-selling book about their experiences.
In a certain church, they met a strange, old gentleman, called Wallace, who didn’t have a family, only a cat. He spoke to Kim and Ji after their presentation, telling them how impressed his was by their jobs and also called them brave. He told them not only that he knew all about Asia but also that he had served in Vietnam which didn’t make the missionaries very enthusiastic. However, Wallace was inspired by the Korean missionaries, and, a week later, decided that he would visit them.
Although all he knew was the Asian church’s name, he travelled to Asia by aeroplane, anyway. He didn’t know that he wouldn’t be able to find the missionaries as he had bought a ticket to China instead of Korea.
