A delicious mix-up
Daphne is the proud mother of two talented chefs, Sam and Sarah, who co-own a restaurant called Food for the Soul. This is the most critically acclaimed restaurant in the city, and everyone loves the food there. Because the restaurant is so popular, it means that Sam and Sarah work awfully long hours, so Daphne cooks them dinner each night and delivers it to the restaurant.
On one particularly busy day, when Daphne had taken some hot chicken soup over to the restaurant, something happened that had never happened before.
Daphne entered the restaurant and went into the kitchen. Usually, she kissed her children and said hello, but noticing how hectic all the chefs looked, she didn’t want to get in the way or interrupt. She emptied the soup from the Tupperware into two bowls as she usually did, but this time she left without a word. A waiter, who was ferrying food to various tables, mistakenly served the soups to a couple in the restaurant.
“Mhm. This is amazing!” Brian said to his wife. She too was trying the soup.
“Yes, it is! I’m glad we ordered the soup of the day. They should have this on their full menu though,” Barbara replied dreamily.
“I agree, it’s the best soup I’ve ever had!”
At the end of the meal, they asked to speak to the manager. Both Sam and Sarah approached the couple who expressed their love for the chicken soup. At first, they were confused since their soup of the day was a tomato soup, but they soon understood the mix-up.
Knowing that they were understaffed at the restaurant, Sam and Sarah visited their mother and offered her a part-time job at the restaurant. Daphne needed no convincing; she accepted without hesitation.
